Official Release: MooLux 6.0 "Resolute" — Ubuntu 26.04 LTS Base & 7-Layer Build System

Written by Djair (MooLux Project)

MooLux Evolution: From 5.4 to 6.0 "Resolute"

After serving for years as a lightweight Live USB distribution based on Slackware & KDE (MooLux 5.4), MooLux 6.0 is now officially released with a modern, resilient, and modular overhaul.

Starting with version 6.0, MooLux is engineered on the solid foundation of Ubuntu 26.04 LTS ("Resolute") with Linux Kernel 7.0 and the Cinnamon 6.4 desktop environment tailored in a dark emerald aesthetic (Mint-Y-Dark with MooLux signature emerald accents).

What's New in MooLux 6.0?

  • Cumulative 7-Layer Build System: No longer monolithic. You can build or download ISOs ranging from 000-core (minimal headless CLI), 002-app-cli (OpenJDK 25 + NVM), 003-cinnamon-desktop, 004-browser (Google Chrome + VS Code), 005-office (ONLYOFFICE), up to 006-driver-wifi.
  • Dual Bootloader (Legacy BIOS & UEFI): A single unified Hybrid ISO that boots seamlessly on legacy hardware (BIOS) as well as modern UEFI laptops and Hyper-V Gen 2 virtual machines.
  • Full Rufus & DD Compatibility: Supports flashing to USB storage via both ISO Image and DD Image modes in Rufus, or native dd on Linux/macOS.
  • Dual Installer (GUI & CLI): Equipped with the user-friendly Calamares graphical installer and the automated moolux-install-cli utility for rapid deployment to SSD/NVMe/HDD.
